Today we hit the Rocky Mountains, the first hill was just brutal. After we left pueblo, it was smooth road for the first 25 miles until we hit Wetmore. After Wetmore it was straight climbing for 20 miles, it was a killer, but got through it. At the end, it was a nice journey to Silver Cliff, were we stopped for lunch and then continued and ended the day at Coaldale. We covered 83 miles today, which was a good start in the Rockies. We have 300 miles left till we hit the Colorado/Utah border. Since there was wildfires in northern Colorado, we got the smoke moving towards the south and continues to New Mexico. It was hard to breath at some point, plus the wind was another factor, but a great day today!
Philip M Keating Fund for the Future.
"Phil's Fund" is a donor-advised charitable fund of the Arlington Community Foundation. The Fund will make grants to various organizations to which Phil volunteered his efforts, time, and talents.
On May 28, 2013 a group of four fit and ambitious friends of Phil, led by his good friend, Luis Gendive, soccer coach and native of Spain, will leave Yorktown, Virginia and pedal around 3,500 miles to San Francisco, California. Tentative plans are for some members of Phil's family to ride the first leg of the trip. If your not able to join the team on your bike, you can support them with a financial donation!
