Philip M Keating Fund for the Future.
"Phil's Fund" is a donor-advised charitable fund of the Arlington Community Foundation. The Fund will make grants to various organizations to which Phil volunteered his efforts, time, and talents.

On May 28, 2013 a group of four fit and ambitious friends of Phil, led by his good friend, Luis Gendive, soccer coach and native of Spain, will leave Yorktown, Virginia and pedal around 3,500 miles to San Francisco, California. Tentative plans are for some members of Phil's family to ride the first leg of the trip. If your not able to join the team on your bike, you can support them with a financial donation!

Day 24 complete

After lunch, we needed only 16 Mike's to complete our century, but we didn't. We covered a total of 93 miles today. The wind was not getting any better, plus the sun was hot and the air was dry, we were  dehydrated pretty quick. We heard there was bad weather in Colorado, they been having wildfires and tornados, but that should be all over and should not reach South Colorado.  Tomorrow we hit the Rocky Mountains. We are looking forward to it!

  1. Great to see Lena joining the boys!
You guys are doing great. I talk to a lot of people around Arlington who are keeping up with you and cheering you on.
On to the Rockies! Make those hills in the east seem like speed bumps!
    Keep peddling!

  2. Hi Luis! I'm so impressed with you, the "old man" keeping up with these young lads! A belated Happy Birthday! You are now older than I was when you trained me for the marathon, ha ha (you may remember, I was 43). I forgot about this blog until Erin sent an email today thanking us for our contribution. It makes me smile that most of the pictures are of you guys riding and EATING. Such a GUY thing! The picture of the sun is so beautiful, which is why I am commenting on this one (and not on the one of your hairy, tanning legs! :)) I know there must be trying times, but remember to BREATHE and RELAX (as you used to say to me and I still think about when I run) and to be kind to one another. And you are getting to see so much of my own country that I have never seen! I'm cheering silently here back in Arlington!!! (And still feeling sad about Phil not being with us anymore.) Barb
